March is Reading Month 2012, Tip #9: Write and Send a Letter

Write and Send a Letter!

Well, letters are on my mind. I have some personal correspondence on deck: thank yous I need to finish for some volunteer commitments and for my cousin, an awesome newspaper clipping to mail to a certain high school friend in Indianapolis, a check to pop in the mail for some Girl Scout cookies, and of course a letter to my sweet old Granny. Also, my I even turned in two proposals to 826 for possible upcoming workshops on writing letters this spring!

I absolutely love mail.  Well, fun mail.  I love to send letters and to receive letters. Real letters- not email.

I hope I get off my tuckus (and computer) long enough to write some!

March is Reading Month, Tip #9: Write and Send a Letter

Write and send a letter!

There's nothing better than getting mail...and one way to get a letter is to write one that needs to be answered. Since we are basking in the success of all Christmas thank yous mailed by Valentine's Day, this just leaves old school correspondence. Today, we will write and send cards to my Gran- because that old bird always answers a letter.

Also, check out some fabulous picture books about letters: The Jolly Postman, Dear Mr. Blueberry, Yours Truly, Goldilocks, Dear Annie, Dear Mrs. LaRue: Letters from Obedience School, A Letter to Amy, The Gardener, and Messages in the Mailbox: How to Write a Letter.

More Mo!

A while ago, Francis made this sweet card for Mo Willems at 826 Michigan drop-in writing (for ages 6-8). I scanned it because it was so cute, but Mo got the original.

Fran even wrote a thoughtful note with suggestions for Mo's next Elephant and Piggie book.

So you can imagine our surprise when this came in the mail today for Fran:

All we can say is, we want more Mo! We can't get enough of that guy! And we loved his shout out to 826.
